#TrendingNow: Painting, Playdates and Playlists

I’m still struggling with regular blogging, although I’ve written more this month than I have in the last three. That’s progress and I’ll take it! One of the things I’m struggling with currently is lack of media. It’s hard to write detailed ride recaps without much media and when I’m busy, taking photos at the barn is the first thing to go. Ah well, c’est le vie!

Trending in Home Reno: More Bathroom Makeovers

Winter is about the only time I can manage to get real work done around the house, so this year I took advantage of this knowledge and knocked some things off the To Do List. At the top was getting the remaining rooms painted… namely the bathrooms. Last month Sam and I tackled the half bath ourselves, but I caved and hired painters for our two full baths upstairs. At the same time, we also got new mirrors and light fixtures — out with the blah builder-grade fixtures and in with the new, classy fixtures! I’m really happy with how both turned out.

Trending in Homemaking: Laundry Is Fun Again

The final room that needed paint was our laundry room. I spend a stupid amount of time in there, and I wanted something clean, fun and in-line with the rest of our house’s decor. After much consternation, I decided to keep the room white but add in a fun chevron stripe! We finished off with adding a small shelf above the washer and dryer so I could more easily reach things (#shortgirlstruggles), plus some cute baskets for organized storage. Shout out to Mom who came down this past weekend and helped get all of this done!!

Trending in Furbabies: Puppy Playdates

Kona is 7 months old now, and she’s really coming into her own. We started a new puppy class (Puppy Sports!), and her confidence has grown in leaps and bounds. We took the pups to Hocking Hills, where Kona tackled the trails like a boss! Then she came to the barn and hung out for the first time, during which she was excellent. Finally, we went on a playdate with her best friend Hali (5-month-old Border Collie) and Pearl (1-year-old Australian Shepard) — at Trainer’s house! They played in the house, walked through the barn to meet the mini donks, walked in the woods and around the pond. I found out that Kona is much more comfortable outdoors, and I’m pretty sure she wants to do Dock Diving.

Trending in Music: 50 Shades of Grey and Justin Moore

Two weeks ago a group of girls got together to go see 50 Shades Darker (which, by the way, actually kind of sucked). BUT before the movie, I was obsessing over the soundtrack — and even found this huge playlist of 50 Shades-inspired songs on Spotify. I legit listened to it non-stop for over a week. Now I’m on to Justin Moore, Lee Brice and William Michael Morgan since we’re going to see them in concert this weekend. What are you listening to?

  1. I have a bathroom that looks very similar to your guest bath! It was inspired by a cute local cupcake shop decor. Would you believe I don’t even have a laundry room? I don’t understand what homebuilders in the late 70s, early 80s were thinking here in SoCal. My washer and dryer are in my garage. What I wouldn’t give to have a cute painted laundry room and not have to look at garden tools and my husband’s junky work shelves while I do laundry. You are blessed. 🙂

  2. I love the colors you picked and the chevron (I feel like I’d never get a chevron to look good!). I need to repaint our spare room but it’s tough to get motivated…maybe after barn reno, lol.

    Kona is just so cute!

  3. This all sounds peaceful – or maybe it’s just the soothing bathroom colors that started the post haha. Kona is turning into a gorgeous dog.

  4. Love the colors you chose for the bathrooms!! Very lovely.
