Happy Anniversary, Sam

One year ago today I married the love of my life. It was a long time coming and our friends and family will all tell you no one was surprised in the least. To date though, it’s still the best decision I’ve ever made. It’s crazy to think it’s been one whole year, 365 days, already; I remember our wedding like it was yesterday!

I spend a lot of time on the blog talking about my horse — how amazing he is and what we’re working on — which makes sense since this is, after all, a blog about my equestrian pursuits. But anyone who’s spent time around horses knows that it can’t be done alone — it takes a team of professionals to keep a horse happy and healthy. Likewise, it takes a tremendous support system to keep us equestrians happy, health and sane too. For me, my husband is a large majority of my support system and today, on our first anniversary, I want to take some time to say thank you.

Thank you for being my partner and sharing your life with mine. From horse shows to baseball games, quiet nights at home to rowdy nights out I hope that our life is this amazing forever. But for the times that aren’t awesome, thank you for sticking with me anyways. Despite our disagreements (which sometimes get too loud because we’re both stubborn) and our poor choices (like that time we took the red-eye back from Vegas) you make me a better person every day.

Thank you for pushing me to be a better professional, better equestrian and better friend. You’re always the first person to tell me to ‘go for it’ and to dream big; you’re never afraid to work hard or pitch in to help our family do it all. I love that we can divide and conquer, no matter the task, and that when you say “don’t worry, we’ll get through it” I can believe you. Thank you for always making that statement true.

I know I’ll never be able to thank you enough, but I’m looking forward to trying for the next 49 years and beyond.

  1. I love this post! Horses can be very divisive in a marriage (all that money and time!) So glad to hear you have a great support system! Happy anniversary 🙂
