One of the best things I ever did for myself was take a step back from riding during college. It was a good thing for me, because I needed time to mature and figure out who I was and what I wanted to do with my life. I’m forever grateful for that time, because it allowed me to come back to horses on my own and be 110% committed to being an equestrian for the rest of my life. As a fresh college graduate, this is not always easy — there are a lot of demands on your time and finances, and the only way to include horses in the equation is to be dedicated to making it work. However, this time away from the horse world also had a huge impact on my riding… and it wasn’t for the better.
I’m still struggling with regular blogging, although I’ve written more this month than I have in the last three. That’s progress and I’ll take it! One of the things I’m struggling with currently is lack of media. It’s hard to write detailed ride recaps without much media and when I’m busy, taking photos at the barn is the first thing to go. Ah well, c’est le vie!
This past weekend our little family escaped the city and headed to nearby Hocking Hills for some much needed and well deserved R&R. On Friday afternoon, we packed up all of our stuff, grabbed the dogs and headed south to a small cabin we rented for the long weekend. It was absolutely lovely — we had perfect weather, ate like kings and enjoyed a lot of time relaxing.
If you follow me on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, you’ve probably already seen that I’ve got a few tack items for sale. In a shameless effort to move said expensive leather, I’m posting them here too. Shares greatly appreciated!
The Printable Pony opened in November 2014, based around creating a downloadable Horse Binder for equestrians to keep their horses’ records organized in one place. Several bloggers helped me develop the binder, and a few even did reviews. Since then, I’ve added two patterns (one crochet and one sewing) to my store, both of which have been very successful. Along the way I’ve tried some other products, and this year I’m looking to expand once again!
