Repeat after me: I promise not to spend this entire blog post bitching about the god-awful weather. Okay, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s talk about riding. Unlike last week where I stayed away from the barn for an entire 10 days, this week I’ve actually ridden my horse. Tuesday and Wednesday evenings were both warm enough to venture out, and I know Miles really enjoyed the attention and exercise.
A popular saying amongst bloggers is “it didn’t happen unless you have photographic evidence.” Well, dear readers, I took that to heart as I climbed aboard my faithful steed and rode for the first time in 10 days. While it’s not the first time I’ve taken more than a week off from riding, the hiatus always seems much longer and infinitely more painful when it’s due to weather and not something more exciting, like a tropical vacation.
Central Ohio is on track today to set a new record for February 19th: the lowest “high” temperature since the 1880’s… a balmy 3 degrees. So last night I trekked out to the barn after work to see the ponykins to 1) let him know I’m still alive and 2) put on his blanket liner. By the time I got there, the temperature was 10 degrees, before factoring in the wind chill. So how does one survive a visit to the barn in the bitter cold?
Wow, Weigh-In Wednesday has really taken off! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone’s posts on their health and fitness goals for 2015, plus I’ve gotten some great advice! I got a bit of a late start on my health resolution, beginning about three weeks after the New Year. So far, I’m not sure how I feel about my progress, especially where working out is concerned.
