2014 Fly On Over Basic Stats

2014 Rewind: Blog Statistics

This is the first full year that I’ve been actively blogging and I’m proud to say that while I still have a long way to go to reach my goals and accomplish my dreams, Fly On Over was more successful this year than last! The marketing and communications professional in me loves to see the numbers of how well my website did, and of course since I’m also somewhat of a graphic designer I couldn’t help but make a pretty visual for ya’ll to make it more interesting. Enjoy!

Basic Statistics

2014 Fly On Over Basic Stats

I started out the year with the goal of being more active and I hoped to be able to say that I averaged at least 20 posts per month in 2014. I’m happy to report that I reached my goal by the skin of my teeth, coming in at an average of 20.4 posts per month. But what I’m really proud of are my total pageviews. About halfway through I decided to really throw myself headfirst into Fly On Over by purchasing a domain name and moving my blog to I wanted to really increase traffic and have more creative freedom to showcase some of my web and graphic design skills. This change was a big one and while it was a pretty big commitment, it certainly paid dividends! My total pageviews are up 168% from last year, and my best month [July with 4,880 pageviews] received more than twice the number of pageviews thanΒ my best month last year.

Around the time I moved to, I started to explore search engine optimization and began paying attention to keywords. While I’m still a beginner with a lot to learn on the subject, it’s been an interesting road to travel and I credit some of my increase in traffic to this endeavor. My top written keywords are really no surprise, with “Miles” outranking everything else by… well, a mile. I have a few ideas of things I’d like to try in this category next year, to see if it impacts my traffic or acquisition of visitors. What I really found interesting though were the topics that drove visits to organically through search engines. I never thought my Samshield Shadowmatt Helmet Review would be so popular!

2014 Fly On Over Keywords

Best Of

My favorite part of this statistics review is announcing the “best of” Fly On Over in the past year. I always like to share two categories: my most popular posts by pageviews and my personal favorites. So hang on to your hats, because these are 10 posts you don’t want to miss!

Most popular posts:

  1. Battle Rain Rot [302 pageviews]
  2. Miles’ Mysterious Past Revealed [271 pageviews]
  3. Printable Stall Card [256 pageviews]
  4. $900 FB Blog Hop Blog Sale [254 pageviews]
  5. Second Annual Gift Exchange [246 pageviews]

This list was a mishmash between some of my most commented on posts and some of my most searched for keywords. Although there were definitely a few surprises in there, like $900 Facebook Pony’s Tack Swap! Although I was shocked to see how well that post has performed, it definitely gives some credence to participating in blog hops and of course, kudos to Amanda for running such a successful one this year.

My favorite posts:

  1. Marriage
  2. New Vocations Charity: 2’6″ Debut
  3. Redemption
  4. 2014 Equus Now Classic: Limit Equitation
  5. I Love My New Saddle

It was really, really hard for me to only choose five favorite posts from 2014. Looking back, I’ve had a really amazing year filled with big events, from getting married to [finally!] showing at 2’6″. It’s not often that you get to experience this type of banner year and I’m really glad I’ve been able to share the ride.
