I’ve been looking at adding another member to our family for quite some time… and by autumn, I was dying for a little, squishy puppy. So I finally convinced my dearest husband, and the search was on in earnest. It didn’t take long to find the perfect addition… a 10 week old female chocolate labradoodle! So we paid the deposit and picked her up the day we returned from our vacation. That was mid-October, and we’ve had Kona for just over one month now.
She’s been a great addition to the family. In a year that included so much loss, I really felt like I needed some light in my life, and Kona has provided that in spades. She’s learned (and grown!) so much in the last month. She’s probably doubled (at least) in size, and we’ve learned stairs, walking on a leash, sit, down, touch and she’s met pretty much met the entire immediate family… and a few bloggers! She goes to puppy class once a week now and is getting braver all the time about meeting new dogs and exploring new things.
Most of the time she likes to cuddle and sleep (growing is hard work!), but she also loves to play tug. She’s pretty good at fetch… and digging… and pulling up our grass. She even helps do laundry… mostly by moving all the clothes to the landing on the staircase. But in all seriousness, she’s really a great puppy. She hangs out with while I work during the day, and pretty much follows you wherever you go. She loves to lounge in the bed and on the couch, and while she certainly gets spurts of hyper puppy energy, she settles very quickly when you ask.
Our other dog, Rocky, has been an excellent big brother. He plays with her, and lets her use all of his toys. They’re pretty cute together, if I do say so myself.
